Merit Awards

The Kent Archery Association (KAA) presents various awards to its members and others to recognize excellence in archery or outstanding service to the sport within the county. All awards are traditionally presented at the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).


Honorary Life Vice-President

This award is available to individuals the KAA wishes to publicly honour.

  • Process: Nominations are made prior to the AGM, and members present decide the outcome by vote.
  • Benefits: Recipients are entitled to free membership of the Association. It does not confer any other special rights.

A lifetime award for members with at least 15 years of membership whom the Association wishes to honour.

  • Process: Nominations are made prior to the AGM and voted on by the members.
  • Benefits: Recipients are entitled to free membership of the Association.

Emeritus Medal

Presented to KAA members to acknowledge sustained, exemplary service to the Association.

  • Process: Suggestions can be put forward by any member, but the final award is made at the discretion of the Operational Committee.

Red Tassel (Junior)

County Team Badges and Bars

Awarded to members who represent the county in matches against other counties or in the SCAS County Team Championships.

  • First Year: Archer is awarded a county badge and an engraved bar with the year.
  • Subsequent Years: Archer is awarded an engraved bar for each year of selection.
